Round Tower Visitor Centre
On the 9th of November, we visited our local Round Tower Visitor Centre. We were given a very interesting and informative tour of all of the resources by our guides, Margaret and Daniel. We were so grateful for all of their knowledge and interesting stories of local history. We travelled from the Monasteries, to the Vikings and onwards to local industries, The Paper Mills, The Gunpowder Mill and the importance of the River Camac to the development of Clondalkin as we know it today. We even got to dress up in clothes dating back to times when the Visitor centre was actually a row of houses for the workers in the nearby Paper Mills. Clondalkin is an area steeped in history and we are looking forward to delving deeper into our local history and folklore as the year progresses. Stay tuned here to keep up with our explorations and discoveries!
