Science Experiments in Room 6 - STEM Week
24th Jan 2024
Today in Room 6 we did some science experiments with balloons as part of STEM week.
The 1st experiment was could the children walk on air. When an individual puts his/her whole weight on one balloon, all of the pressure from that individual is concentrated on one small area of the balloon, which results in the balloon bursting. When an individual’s weight is distributed over several balloons, the balloons do not burst because the pressure is spread over a large area. As a result, each balloon only supports a small fraction of the weight. We even managed to have 2 children walk on air together without bursting the balloons.
We also did some hair raising electricity experiment. The children rubbed a balloon on another child's head. The friction resulted in making the hair electric. Check out our fun pictures :).
