Seachtain na Gaeilge 2023

We are celebrating Seachtain Na Gaeilge in Scoil Ide from the 9^th of March to the 16^th of March.  Seachtain na Gaeilge is an international Irish language festival that celebrates the Irish language and culture in Ireland and around the world. 

We have lots of fun and exciting activities planned for the children over the next week and we hope everyone at home will have a go at using some Gaeilge also. 

The children will be taking part in Comórtas Ealaíne (art competitions), Tráth na gCeist (Table Quiz), cluichí (games) Amhráin Rannta agus Dánta (songs, rhymes, and poems) and we will have a Céili mór sa chlós on Wednesday 15th where all the children can wear green white and orange and will perform songs and dances for the other classes.  Each class is learning some Irish songs and dances so please encourage the children to share these at home. 

We have included some links below where parents and children can access some phrases in Irish. Some have little soundbites attached to help you pronounce the word.  This is a great way to use some Gaeilge at home and support your child’s learning in Irish.
