School History
Scoil Íde was founded in 1969 by the Presentation Sisters to provide education to girls from
Junior Infants to 6th class and to boys from Junior Infants to 1st class. Sister Brigid was the
first Principal of our school with an enrolment of 322 pupils in September 1969.
While our school has always been located on its current site, in the early 2000s, the
Department of Education and Science granted permission for an extension to the existing
building to commence. The “New Building” was officially opened in 2005.
Scoil Íde celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2019, with celebrations taking place throughout
the year and culminating in a week-long celebration and tree-planting ceremony commemorating 50 years of education in Scoil Íde.
Catherine Keane was appointed as Principal in November 2020 and will lead Scoil Íde into its
next phase of growth and development.
